Cross Stitch Books

Here at Splendid Stitches we only sell new books, so when you turn the pages, you'll be the first to see what is inside. Sure, you might be able to find the same book cheaper on Amazon or some website like that, but you take the chance that it's dog-earred, scrappy, torn pages or written in. Not here! Books are something to take pride in and we offer only the highest in quality to you.

Below is a list of books that we have available. Be sure to check back with us regularly, as we update our list regularly as new titles arrive or previously released books are put out to print and are no longer available.

If you need more information on a book or to see some of the projects inside, click on the Click here for more information link under each title.

A Schoolgirl's Work

A Schoolgirl's Work

Barb Adams and Alma Allen of Blackbird Designs have joined with the Spencer Museum of Art to share historical schoolgirl samplers with the cross stitchers of today. There is much to admire when perusing these lovely examples of needlework. Figures stroll through gardens of enormous flowers, baskets can be as large as a house and blossoms almost as big as a person can float through the sky. Still the casual observer strolling through the garden feels that all is right with the world - it is folk art at its best! You will find examples of samplers spanning the years of 1710 to 1841. Barb and Alma include 9 projects to stitch based on these wonderful works of art that were crafted by children so long ago.
